KAMLOOPS – Downtown will be the scene of the annual Merchants Market this week as the Wednesday farmer's market takes over both sides of Victoria Street, Taste of the Town offers up assorted eats, a community carnival sets up in the 300 block of Victoria Street and the buskers showdown livens up the annual sidewalk sale.
The 400 block of Victoria will be closed to traffic Wednesday for most of the day as the farmers' market enjoys longer hours, more space and more live entertainment.
On Thursday the Taste of the Town event offers $10 passports to enjoy a tasting at two dozen different restaurants in the downtown area. During the tour live entertainment will fill Victoria Street once again, though the road will be open to traffic before closing again for Friday and Saturday events.
On Friday the United Way Community Carnival will see the 300 block of Victoria Street closed as games, crafts and entertainment fill the streets from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday buskers of all backgrounds will gather to compete for prizes and bragging rights. Clowns, magicians, street performers, live musicians and more will perform throughout the week but Saturday they will put on a show with the sole focus of winning over the judges. While three blocks of Victoria will see buskers perform, the 200 block will be the focus of the sidewalk sale and street performers zone.
