PENTICTON - Peach Festival is coming up fast, and so is the first ever Reel Peach Film Festival.
Taking place Aug. 5 to 9 during the annual Peach Festival, the film festival will feature one to three minute commercials or short films prior to nightly headline events at Okanagan Lake Park.
“Our vision for the festival is to grow and create a standalone film festival with a larger array of categories and where each winner gets showcased in front of the 5,000 plus fans at PeachFest before the main act starts,” festival organizer Andrew Jakubeit says. “Years ago we had the popular Beach Blanket film festival and the Vinos, so we feel there is an opportunity to create a fun festival and venue for aspiring film makers to showcase their art and talent, and a cultural experience for resident and tourist alike.”
The films are to be based on an Okanagan libation (wine, craft beer, distillery, pop, etc.,) or on an Okanagan tourism, cultural or other experience.
First prize is $1,000 plus a weekend getaway to the Lakeside Resort, $500 for second prize, $250 for third place and a $500 prize for fan favourite.
Deadline for submissions is Aug. 2 at midnight. For more information visit the Reel Peach Fest website.
