THOMPSON-OKANAGAN — If you plan on hitting the highways this week plan for delays as crews clean and fix highways hit hard by a cold, wet winter that left potholes and frost heaves on many roads in the region.

Work has already begun on some highways and over the next week drivers can expect to see minor delays as lanes are shut down for maintenance and sweeping on the Coquihalla Highway. Expect to see areas of broken pavement in the southbound lanes from Zopkios to Portia Interchange north of Hope.

Drive B.C. also lists Highway 1 east of Craigellachie as having debris from fallen rocks and even further east frost heaves and potholes could cause problems for drivers.

Rain forecast over the next several days could slow down maintenance and worsen potholes as well.

Crews worked at cleaning up Highway 97C earlier in the week.
