Sports fields now open

As warm weather approaches, many residents and sports leagues will use one of the 30 City sports fields to enjoy activities ranging from Frisbee to baseball. Yesterday marked the official opening of all City sports fields, including public washrooms which are now open until 8 p.m.

Throughout the season, City staff will perform routine maintenance that requires field closures. Users are encouraged to go online to view the 2014 Sport Field Maintenance Schedule which lists the closures throughout the spring and summer months.

To keep teams practicing, a number of fields are available free of charge. Using the practice fields and staying off regular fields during closures lets the turf be repaired more quickly so that teams can get back on high quality fields faster.
