Original Publication Date December 20, 2016 - 12:24 PM

KAMLOOPS - The Coquihalla Highway south of Merritt has reopened to traffic, but drivers are being advised to expect delays.

Highway 5 southbound south of Merritt was closed earlier today, Dec. 20 for a vehicle crash and has since reopened.

Drive B.C. asks drivers to watch for crews still on the scene for vehicle recovery.

Motorists should also be aware of an Environment Canada snowfall warning for Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Hope and Highway 3 from Princeton to Hope via the Allison Pass.

"In the wake of a Pacific frontal system an unstable southwest flow will continue to give snow to southern Interior highway passes," the warning states. "Total snow accumulations of 20 to 30 centimetres are expected over Coquihalla Summit and Allison Pass. The snow will taper off Wednesday morning."

Due to the weather, visibility will be reduced at times and Environment Canada is warning drivers weather may change suddenly in the mountains.

For the latest updates and highway conditions go to Drive B.C.

— This story was updated at 1:37 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2016 to say the highway had reopened.
