Song, toys, joys this weekend in Penticton

PENTICTON - Winter is coming and it's bringing gifts and cheer instead of gloom and doom.

The SS Sicamous Christmas Market is first up with handmade crafts and eclectic gifts Saturday and Sunday. Both floors of the vessel will be crammed with samples of baked goods and camaraderie as such events are excuses to catch up with neighbours and distant folks home for the holiday season.

The Okanagan Symphony Orchestra Birthday Bash will have Colleen Venables on violin Saturday for its celebration of another year gone by. Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. show are $23 to $51 and are available online or at the Wine Country Visitor Centre.

A delightfully named singer, Coco Love Alcorn, will bring her brand of joyful soul music with touches of jazz, pop, rhythm and blues and folk. Showtime is at 8 p.m on Saturday. with tables available from 6 p.m. Tickets are $18 at the Dream Cafe on 67 Front St. For more information call 250-490-9012.

Those who like complimentary wine will be well served at the BC VQA Wine Information Centre Annual Open House Saturday.
