KAMLOOPS - The lastest numbers are in and show building permits for single family houses continue to rise a couple permits per month in Kamloops.
Multi family permits issued in May were on pace with May 2013, though the year to date numbers are still down significantly.
There were 22 permits issued for single family units this May, up from 19 last May. That brings the year to date total to 81, up from 70 over the same time period last year. The values on the permits only vary by $72,000.
Multi family starts are up over last year, for a difference of almost $100,000, though year over year we are down more than 130 units this year for a value of about $10 million.
Commercial permit values are also down this year, about $1.5 million just for the month of May and nearly $7 million year to date. Smaller permits for things such as accessory buildings, demolition, plumbing, etcetera, are up just slightly in May (109 compared to 87) but is up about $1.7 million overall year over year.
