Shave your stache or slide with Santa this weekend

KELOWNA - Whether you want to shave your Movember stache, ride a water slide with Santa, browse the Rutland flea market or learn something new at the EECO Science Centre, Kelowna has something for everyone this weekend.

Starting Saturday at 10 a.m., Arion Therapeutic Farm hosts its annual Winter Wonderland with Santa, featuring hayrides, cookies, crafts, tractor and pony rides and more.    

If horses and crafts aren't your thing, take a slide with Santa at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All proceeds from this fundraiser go to Habitat for Humanity. There will be games and crafts for the kids, and a chance to ride the big red water slide with the big red guy. There will be hot chocolate and cookies, as well as a craft and bake sale. Admission price for children is $7; free of charge for adults.

Annual Skiers' Gala Gala Do takes place on Saturday at 6 p.m. It is a disabled skier’s fundraiser for Silver Star Adaptive Snow Sports with a silent auction, gourmet dinner, entertainment and guest speaker. Tickets ($60) are available at Sun Valley Sports (250-542-2852) or Olympia Cycle & Ski (250-542-9662). 

Join the Kelowna Jaycees and MVP Men's Hair Salon Saturday at 7 p.m. for a Movember Shave Off Party at Dakoda's Sports Bar and Grill (1574 Harvey Ave.). Tickets are $10 with proceeds going to the Movember Canada Charity. Straight blade shave's during the night from MVP Men's Hair Salon and stand-up comedy throughout the night.

The season for ugly sweaters and scruffy facial hair has arrived. Come to McCulloch Station Pub for their Ugly Sweater and Mustache Party Saturday at 7 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the best mustache and ugliest sweater, drink specials, door prizes, silent auction and a chance to donate to Men's Health. They will also offer "shave off" services to get rid of the lip scarf you have been sporting all month.    

The 5th annual "A Touch of Christmas" crafter and vendors fair at New Life Church (2041 Harvey Ave.) takes place Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Featuring wonderful crafters and unique vendors, silent auction and gift baskets, live entertainment and door prizes, A Touch of Christmas fundraiser supports Hands in Service's mobility and health challenged clients. It is also in partnership with the Kelowna Community Food Bank. The event features 60 crafters and vendors, door prizes and gift basket draws valued at more than $100 each, a silent auction, musicians and performers.

Team Mogopogos presents their 5th Annual Movember Party at Parkinson Recreation Centre (1800 Parkinson Way) Saturday at 8 p.m. $25 ticket includes live DJ, food, giveaways and a chance to win a grand prize. 

Come to the EECO Centre in Mission Creek Regional Park (2623A Springfield Road) Saturday from 1-3 p.m. and explore the natural world through science. New experiments held on the first Saturday of every month free of charge.

Count down with Santa and Mayor Doug Findlater at West Kelowna Light Up at Mount Boucherie Community Complex (2760 Cameron Road) Saturday at 5 p.m. Light up the courtyard while enjoying choirs and a sweet treat.

Science Made Fun is hosting Saturday Science workshops at the Westbank Museum (2376 Dobbin Road) at 10:30 a.m. The programs are a fun, hands-on way to learn about different science topics for kids age 6-12. Pre-registration is required. 

Rutland Centenial Hall (180 Rutland Road) is holding a flea market Sunday starting at 7 a.m. Outdoor and indoor vendors offer everything from tools, antiques, collectables , camping and fishing gear, DVD's, Cd's, LP's , crafts, baked goods and breakfast.

Come to the 2nd annual Christmas Artisan Fair at Glenmore Elementary School (960 Glenmore Drive) Sunday at 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. where original ideas and fabulous talent make this the perfect place to shop for one-of-a-kind gifts for everyone on your list. And finally, bring your family and a food bank donation and enjoy free pancake breakfast, lunch, skating, crafts, activities, a visit from Santa and more at the West Kelowna Winterfest. This annual event takes place at Mount Boucherie Community Complex (2760 Cameron Road) Sunday, starting at 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
