VERNON - A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Vernon and West Kelowna.

Environment Canada is watching a storm system that is already bringing rain to the city of Vernon. It's expected the thunderstorm could produce penny size hail and heavy rain. Severe thunderstorms are also moving over West Kelowna, travelling southeast at 20 kilometres per hour towards Okanagan Landing. The north end of Kalamalka Lake can expect a storm to hit at 4:30 p.m.

The storms should finish their current track through the Okanagan just after 5 p.m.
