Several Sun Peaks staff members fired after drug search

FILE PHOTO

KAMLOOPS – Details surrounding the situation are scarce, but several employees have been fired following a bizarre incident involving drugs and staff at Sun Peaks Resort.

Aidan Kelly with Sun Peaks says in a statement that RCMP were "called to staff accommodation to investigate reports of illegal substances being present" and some staff members were terminated as a result.

However, Staff Sgt. Doug Aird with the Kamloops Rural RCMP says in an email that police responded after the staff members were evicted. According to Aird, officers made no arrests, there were no drug seizures and the staff members were already gone when they arrived.

It's not clear how many staff members were terminated, what authority management used to search their accommodations, what kind of drugs were found or how the drugs were disposed of.
