OTTAWA - Quick, someone get the Senate the number of a good collection agency.

Newly released government spending documents show the upper chamber is still out $45,940 from the scandal over living expenses and travel claims.

Patrick Brazeau is behind the outstanding balance, a Senate spokeswoman said.

Three senators — former Conservatives Brazeau, Mike Duffy and Pamela Wallin — were suspended from the Senate last November over their expense claims.

Liberal Mac Harb resigned from the Senate in August 2013 after paying back $231,000 for ineligible housing and travel expenses.

Wallin was on the hook for $138,970, while Duffy's $90,000 tab was covered by Prime Minister Stephen Harper's former chief of staff, Nigel Wright.

Brazeau's wages were garnisheed before his suspension when he refused to repay more than $48,000.

The Senate notified Brazeau in July 2013 it would dock 20 per cent of his pay until he repaid his expenses — with interest.

But the upper chamber only managed to garnish Brazeau's wages for four months before he was suspended without pay last November.

He faces criminal charges of fraud and breach of trust in connection with his Senate expense claims.

Duffy faces 31 charges, including fraud, breach of trust and bribery. Harb faces criminal charges of fraud and breach of trust, while Wallin has not been charged.

Brazeau has also been charged with assault and sexual assault in relation to an incident from February 2013 that got him booted from the Conservative caucus. He was also recently charged with being drunk behind the wheel of a parked car and carrying a knife.

The Public Accounts of Canada also show the amount of the original loss of $314,758 has ballooned by $141,408. That brings the total amount owing to $456,166.

The Senate says the amendment is for Harb.

"An estimate of $48,515 was used for Sen. Harb when we published the 2012-2013 public accounts," spokeswoman Nancy Durning wrote in an email.

"The amount was amended by $141,408 (for a grand total of $189,923) when further information was received and analyzed."
