Original Publication Date June 07, 2015 - 1:05 PM

MERRITT – A barefoot camper missing in the bush northeast of Merritt has been found.

Search and rescue teams from Kamloops and Merritt were called to the Plateau Lake area, Sunday, June 7 to look for the missing man who had been last seen at around 7 p.m. on Saturday. Plateau Lake is about 50 kilometres northeast of Merritt, off Highway 5A.

“He was camping with family and friends,” Alan Hobler with Search and Rescue said. “It sounds like he might have had an argument and walked away.”

Hobler said the missing man may have been barefoot, adding they had a similar incident last year.

“It was a search out near Big Bar and we found the guy about 18 kilometres away from his camp,” he says. “He was barefoot, walking along a forestry road really, really dehydrated.

Further details about today's search and rescue have not been released.

Plateau Lake is the approximate location of the search area for a missing camper, Sunday, June 7, 2015.
