Rockets unbeaten at CNC

KELOWNA – The Okanagan Rockets remain unbeaten on home ice after a weekend series against the Valley West Hawks.

On Saturday December 14th the Rockets rallied with 2 goals in the game’s final 3 minutes of play to defeat the Hawks 5 – 4.

Despite being up 3 – 2 after 40 minutes of play, the Hawks scored two goals just 1:03 apart in the third period to take the lead.

The Rockets would pull even at the 17:00 minute mark of the third thanks to Kristian Blumenschein.  Tanner Wishnowski scored his second of the match for the game-winning goal.

Brendan Barry made his first start in net since November 17th as he recovered from his appendectomy.

On Sunday December 15th the Okanagan Rockets led going into the 3rd for the 2nd straight day, only to watch the Hawks roar back and take the lead.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, the Rockets rallied from being down 4 – 3 to take a 6 – 4 victory at Capital News Centre.

Captain Brendan Wagner scored a shorthanded goal at 7:18 in the third to take a 5 – 4 lead.  Also scoring for Okanagan was Jake Kryski, Linden Hora, Tanner Campbell and Tyson Jost.

Reid Kilburn earned his 13th victory in net for the Rockets as he stopped 22 shots for the win.

The Okanagan Rockets overall record now sits at 20 – 3 – 1 and the team is 13 – 0 – 0 on home ice this season, they remain in top spot of the BCMML standings.

Up next for the Rockets is a home and home set with the Thompson Blazers next weekend.  The Rockets host the Blazers at 3PM on Saturday and will then head to Kamloops for an 11AM match-up on Sunday.
