Rockets trail 2-1 in series after win over Royals

KELOWNA - The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Victoria Royals 3-2 on Tuesday night at Prospera Place in Kelowna, trimming the Royals lead in the WHL Playoffs series to two games to one.

Tomas Soustal scored the game winning goal in the third period, and Rourke Chartier had a goal and two assists as the Rockets led from start to finish to get their first win of the series.

Michael Herringer was solid in net as the Rockets outshot Victoria 38-32 in an exciting and tense game in Kelowna.

The Rockets jumped out to a 2-0 lead on first period goals by Dillon Dube and Chartier, before Victoria made the score 2-1 with the only goal of the second period.

Tomas Soustal scored to add to the Rockets lead in the third, taking a nice drop pass and firing a shot home for a 3-1 lead.

Victoria made it 3-2 late in the period but the Rockets held on in the final minute for the win.

Attendance at Prospera Place was 4,671 and game four in the series will take place on Thursday night in Kelowna.
