Rockets sweep up over weekend

KELOWNA – It was a series sweep this weekend for the Okanagan Rockets.

For the second consecutive day, the Rockets defeated the Thompson Blazers, this time a lopsided 11 – 2 victory on Sunday at the Capital News Centre.

Being down 1 – 0 in the first period didn’t sit well with the Rockets, who quickly scored three goals in less than 40 seconds at 6:21, 6:46 and 6:56.

That set the tone for the rest of the match as the Okanagan Rockets continued to notch goals left, right and centre.

Liam Finlay would score two goals and add two assists just a day after suiting up for the Penticton Vees in his BCHL regular season debut.  Linden Hora and Mahlon Head also had a pair of goals.

Meanwhile, on Saturday the Okanagan Rockets doubled up the Thompson Blazers 6 – 3 in Kamloops.

Tanner Wishnowski had a goal and two assists in the victory.  Brendan Barry stopped 17 of 20 shots.

The weekend sweep improves the Rockets overall record to 5 – 1 – 0 as they head into their first bye of the season.  The Okanagan Rockets will return on October 18th and 19th as they play host to the Kootenay Ice at Capital News Centre.
