The Seattle Thunderbirds defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 on Tuesday night in Seattle, snapping a five game Kelowna winning streak in the process.

The T-Birds scored twice in the third period to come from behind for the win.

Nick Merkley had the Rockets only goal on the night, scoring midway through the first period as the Rockets carried a 1-0 lead into the third.

Kelowna's power play was 0-for-6 on the night while they outshot the Thunderbirds 32-27. The Rockets record fell to 42-9-3-1 on the season.

Rookie netminder Michael Herringer got the start in net for the Rockets and stopped 25 of 27 shots in suffering the loss.

The Rockets now return home for a three game homestand, beginning with a pair of games this weekend at Prospera Place.

Kelowna will play BC Division rival Victoria on Friday night before hosting Moose Jaw on Saturday. Kelowna will also host Kamloops on Feb. 18.
