Rockets alumni fundraiser to benefit Kelowna General Hospital

Former and current members of the Kelowna Rockets will be gathering in Kelowna this weekend to raise money for the Kelowna General Hospital as part of the popular Rockets Alumni Weekend.

Some of the most popular Rockets in the club's history will be back in Kelowna including Josh Gorges, the Kelowna native and star of the Montreal Canadiens.

Rockets players will join community members teeing off at the Harvest Golf Club on Friday morning in the 13th annual Rockets Alumni Golf Tournament. Then on Sunday the players will hit the ice at the Capital News Centre (5 p.m.) for the 12th Annual Alumni Hockey Game.

Among the confirmed alumni taking part in all or part of the weekend are Cody Almond, Tyson Barrie, Jamie Benn, Brandon McMillan, Tyler Myers, Blake Comeau, Troy Bodie, James McEwan. Jason Deleurme and Vern Fiddler.

Adam Brown, Spencer Main, Evan Bloodoff and Brett Lyon are also among the other former Rockets that are back in Kelowna.

Current Rockets that are taking part in the event are Tyson Baillie, MacKenzie Johnston, Jackson Whistle, Mitchell Wheaton, Carter Rigby and Tyrell Goulbourne.

A few former Rockets players have another commitment on the weekend and are unavailable to take part in the event, which has raised close to $300,000 for KGH in its history.

Friday's golf tournament and charity auction are sold out but tickets will be available at the door for Sunday's hockey game. Doors at the CNC open at 4 p.m. and the game begins at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
