Planning is commencing for the downtown waterfront parks in Kamloops. The City of Kamloops is beginning a process to prepare a management plan for Riverside Park, Waterfront Park, and Pioneer Park. These popular parks have been developed over time, but there currently is no management plan in place for their long-term future.
The City’s Parks Master Plan that was recently completed recommends that a management plan with public input be prepared for this important destination area. The management plan will recommend improvements and possible additions to the activities, resources and amenities in these parks. The plan will be based on the input received from the community.
There will be three opportunities for the public to learn about this project and express their views: an open house in the park, a workshop using ‘live-polling’ clickers for participants, and an online survey. The details are as follows:
Open House: Tuesday, June 11th, 2013 from 4 p.m to 6 p.m. in Riverside Park near the Concession Building. Residents are welcome to drop by at their convenience.
Workshop: Tuesday, June 11th, 2013 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Interior Savings Centre Parkside Lounge. Workshop starts promptly at 7 p.m.
Online survey: Visit www.kamloops.ca anytime between May 28th and June 28th to complete the survey.
