Fatal train collision in Chase

CHASE - A 50-year-old man was struck and killed by a train this morning near Chase.

Today, at 7:50 a.m., police responded to a collision between a train and a pedestrian approximately five kilometres west of Chase, Cpl. Scott Linklater says in a release.

Linklater says RCMP, CP Railway police and the Coroner's Service were on scene. 

Investigators say the man was on the tracks when he was hit by a westbound train.

During the investigation and scene examination, rail traffic was stopped for about 3.5 hours.

Police are asking that any witnesses to this incident contact the Chase RCMP Detachment at 250-679-3221. File number: 2016-2644.
