SPALLUMCHEEN - Police took a man into custody yesterday following an extensive search in Spallumcheen.

On Monday morning, Sept. 18, an officer with the Armstrong RCMP detachment noticed a man who had multiple warrants out for his arrest, Sgt. Justin Thiessen says.

“Attempts were made to arrest him, but he fled,” Thiessen says.

Officers called in various support units, including the police dog team and a helicopter, to search an area around Hullcar Road.

“Shortly before 1 p.m. he was taken into custody,” Thiessen says.

The man’s name has not been released, but Thiessen says he is 46-years-old with a number of property-related offences mostly out of the Salmon Arm area, where he is from.

Thiessen says the man was transported to Salmon Arm and is expected to appear in court this week.
