VERNON - What was first described as a suspicious death in Vernon is now being called a homicide by RCMP.

Police are officially releasing the identity of a man found dead last Thursday, March 23, in the area of Wilson Jackson Road and Jordashe Road. He was Dustin Josef Rogers, 26, of Vernon.

“RCMP South East District Major Crimes Unit investigators are continuing their investigation into the man's death and are piecing together a timeline of Rogers’ activities on the days prior to his body being discovered,” states a release from the RCMP.

Facebook photos of Rogers show he had what appears to be an Independent Soldiers tattoo on his torso.

The RCMP has not commented on whether the murder is believed to be gang-related.

Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to contact the Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP at 250-545-7171 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
