Protestors in Chase blocks bridge with logs

CHASE - A portion of the Pine Street Bridge in Chase was blocked today as protestors used a small fire and logs to block one lane of traffic.

Members of the Adams Lake Indian Band held a peaceful protest, blocking the northbound lane of the bridge this morning, April 11, according to an RCMP press release.

While the protest did block one lane, traffic was able to pass in both directions using the other lane.

RCMP say officers attended the scene to find the group in the mid-section of the bridge. They moved to the north end eventually.

During the protest, but unrelated to it, police arrested a man. He was taken into custody and removed from the scene, police say.
