Prepare for a busy weekend on events centre grounds

PENTICTON - It’s shaping up to be a very busy weekend around the South Okanagan Events Centre in Penticton.

City of Penticton recreation and culture manager Lori Mullin is advising residents and visitors alike to allow more time to get to and from the South Okanagan Events Centre area as there is a full slate of concerts, sports and other venues take place on the property.

The Penticton Minor Hockey Atom Development Tournament takes place at Memorial Arena starting today, Oct. 20 until Sunday, Oct. 22, while a Penticton Vees game is scheduled for the events centre tonight.

Saturday evening will see the events centre host rockers Foreigner with guest Honeymoon Suite, and on Sunday, Oktoberfest is taking place at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre.

The weekend wraps up Sunday evening at the Community Centre with the performance “Abbamania” at Cleland Theatre.

“This is one of those weekends where we’re expecting the events centre site to be very busy. We want to make people aware of the activity so they can allow more time and plan their travel options,” Mullin says.

An updated guide to events centre travel options is now available on the city's website.
