Preparations for World of Wheels underway

Peachland, B.C. – One of the most awesome car shows in the B.C. Interior will take place this May long weekend as the 16th annual World of Wheels Show and Shine rolls into town.

The show began a decade and a half ago with a handful of cars and has grown to a show of more than 500 entries and a crowd of more than 10,000 people.

Two parks and six blocks of Beach Avenue will be converted into a pedestrian paradise of the coolest antique and classic cars in the valley, all set against the backdrop of Okanagan Lake and surrounding mountains.

"Our goal is to have a simple car show in the best location anywhere," said Pam Cunningham, board chair of the World of Wheels Committee.

Pre-registration is now open for World of Wheels entrants at www.peachlandworldofwheels.ca. Entrants can print out a registration form and drop it off at the Visitor Information Centre on Beach Avenue. Registration will also take place on car show day at both entrances to the car show.

The first 500 entries get a dash plaque and all entrants receive a draw ticket for some awesome prizes, breakfast ticket and vehicle information sheets.

“Peachland residents and businesses are awesome when it comes to World of Wheels,” said Cunningham. “They give up their town for the day, but they do so enthusiastically.

More than 20 sponsors have stepped forward to make sure World of Wheels will be a success and for the ninth year in a row, Realtor Roger Cyr will fully fund two passenger buses to transport spectators downtown from the Peachland Centre Mall and Gateway areas.

The World of Wheels Show and Shine takes place Sunday, May 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in downtown Peachland.
