Premier Christy Clark embarks on tour

VICTORIA - Premier Christy Clark will embark on a tour to engage Canadian business and community leaders on labour market and skills training needs. Premier Clark will also meet with U.S. officials to support President Barack Obama's climate action plan and promote B.C. liquefied natural gas as a clean energy solution to global climate change.

The tour begins with a keynote address to the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, followed by meetings in Toronto, Ontario and Washington, D.C.

Sept. 30: Kelowna
* Keynote Address -- Canadian Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting. Premier Clark will focus on the government's Skills Training Plan, which will ensure B.C. has the skilled workers to support a rapidly growing and dynamic economy and the development of B.C.'s LNG sector.

Oct. 1: Toronto
* Business Meetings -- Premier Clark will meet with international financial institutions about investment opportunities in British Columbia.

Oct. 2: Toronto/Washington D.C.
* Labour Force Strategy Roundtable -- On behalf of the Council of the Federation, Premier Clark and New Brunswick Premier David Alward will co-chair a roundtable meeting with community and business leaders to discuss labour force development and skills training. The goal is to identify the best strategies to address the skills pressures that are building across Canada.
* Ambassador Meeting -- Meet with His Excellency Gary Doer, Canadian Ambassador to the U.S. to discuss trans-border commerce, water management, environmental issues and natural resource development.

Oct 3: Washington, D.C.
* Administration and Congressional Meetings -- Meet with senior Administration officials and Congressional leaders whose responsibilities include natural resources, energy and West Coast concerns.

* Keynote Address -- Delivered to 140 senior business leaders and government officials at the Canada-United States Forum on Public Private Partnerships (PPP). The address will profile B.C.'s expertise and leadership on controlling spending through PPP for infrastructure and the collaborative partnerships with West Coast U.S. States to create jobs and strengthen the economy.
* Canadian Embassy Reception -- Premier Clark will highlight B.C.'s leadership on climate action and clean economy, including the development of B.C. LNG as a clean economy solution for Asia and the world.

Oct 4: Washington, D.C.
* Administration and Congressional Meetings -- Meet with senior Administration officials and Congressional leaders whose responsibilities include natural resources, energy and West Coast concerns.
