Poor lane change causes crash on Kelowna road

KELOWNA - A collision at Clifton Road and Clement Avenue earlier today sent one driver to hospital and earned the other an unsafe driving ticket.

Kelowna RCMP Const. Jesse O’Donaghey said in a press release a Mitsubishi SUV and a Chevrolet pickup, both northbound on Clement Avenue, collided when the driver of the SUV changed lanes, hitting the truck.

The truck swerved into roadside curbing and flipped into the ditch, O’Donaghey said, earning the SUV driver a Motor Vehicle Act violation ticket for unsafe lane changes and a fine of $109.

Police remind drivers to check their blindspots when changing lanes or passing, O’Donaghey added.
