Police searching for suspects in investigation into attempted truck thefts

KAMLOOPS - RCMP were busy fielding multiple reports of attempted automotive thefts after dark in North Kamloops yesterday.

The first was at 10:25 p.m. when two male suspects were seen allegedly trying to steal a Ford F-250 pickup truck near Fairview Avenue.

The two men fled the scene on foot before police arrived, however police were able to obtain a description of them.

One of the male suspects was described as just over six feet tall, wearing a bright blue hoodie, jeans and a backpack. The second suspect was described as wearing a dark hoodie, pants and a backpack.

The incident came just a couple hours before and a few kilometers away from another attempted car theft of a Ford F-250 truck near 11th Street and Lethbridge Avenue. A man was seen allegedly trying to steal the vehicle just after midnight this morning.

InfoTel News awaits RCMP confirmation as to whether the two attempted automotive thefts are for the same vehicle, however a witness on scene provided a similar description of the earlier suspect. A male in his early 20s, about six feet tall wearing a 'sky blue' hoodie was seen before he fled the scene.

The man was also described as having a moustache, and wearing jeans and a backpack.

RCMP are asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the local detachment at 250-828-3000 or anonymously to Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
