MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. - A shooting in Maple Ridge, B.C., has left one man dead.

Ridge Meadows RCMP say shots were fired just after 2 a.m. on Saturday in a suburb southeast of the city centre.

Police say they found a 32-year-old man with gunshot wounds and sent him to hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

Mounties say they cannot release the name of the victim because next of kin have not yet been contacted.

Police say the shooting was targeted and investigators are working to figure out what happened leading up to the incident.

While the investigation is in its early stages, police say evidence suggests the shooting was targeted.
