SALMON ARM - A bus passenger in Salmon Arm was caught yesterday with a loaded handgun, heroin and cocaine.

RCMP say the man was travelling through Salmon Arm on a bus when police received an alert he was carrying a handgun.

Plainclothes police officers were dispatched to observe the suspect when he got off the bus and they followed him until he was away from other passengers, according to an RCMP media release. He was taken into custody once he was a safe distance away, without incident.

Police seized a .22 caliber revolver with its serial number removed, along with heroin and cocaine.

The man is in police custody and faces weapons and drugs charges.
