Plain clothes cops chase suspect through Salmon Arm restaurant

FILE PHOTO

SALMON ARM – Diners at a Salmon Arm restaurant were treated to a meal and a show when plain clothes officers chased a drug trafficking suspect through the establishment.

Officers were chasing a man they were arresting under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act in a parking lot nearby, Staff Sgt. Scott West says in a release.

"As the suspect ran, he entered the restaurant with the officers in pursuit through the establishment and ran out another door. He was taken into custody after a brief scuffle," West says in the release.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of cocaine, heroin and cash.

West says the pursuit did not put the restaurant patrons in danger. The officer who pursued the suspect apologized to them after the disruption.

The 22-year-old man will be facing drug trafficking charges in Salmon Arm court in March.
