A Penticton woman, Kyra Holt, died when she fell off the back of a pickup truck last Friday.

Police say the 39-year-old was travelling home with friends after a ride out on the KVR trail near Naramata at around 9 p.m. April 26 when the accident happened. Holt and another woman were riding in the box of a 1997 Ford truck driven by a 28-year-old man.

The truck was travelling south on Robinson Avenue and when it came to the 800 block, the woman apparently lost her balance and fell out of the box onto the asphalt. She suffered fatal head injuries in the fall.

A Facebook memorial page was set up this weekend.  A tribute site was also created at the accident scene.

Memorial service details will be announced shortly. When asked for comment the RCMP said the investigation is in the hands of the coroner.
