Penticton weekend begins with downtown block party

PENTICTON - Penticton will be start this weekend with a celebration on Main Street.

A 1950s themed block party gets underway this afternoon, June 17, in the 300-block of Main Street as the Downtown Business Association stages a blast from the past.

There will be vintage cars, an Elvis appearance and live music by Flashback from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The grand reopening of Main Street will take place during the Community and Farmer’s Markets tomorrow, June 18, at 10 a.m. with a ribbon cutting attended by local political dignitaries at the Main Street and Westminster Avenue intersection.

Welcome 2016 presents the One World Penticton celebration in Gyro Park Saturday, June 18, from 7 to 10 p.m.

The free family event celebrates multiculturalism with market vendors and international foods.

Entertainment includes belly dancing, music and live looping by Michael Treadway.

On Tuesday, June 21 the 2016 Austin Healey Owners Association of British Columbia will be holding their 2016 Rendezvous at Rotary Park starting at 10 a.m.
