Penticton Vees hand out hardware

PENTICTON - The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club handed out their team awards for the 2013-2014 season Saturday night after their regular season finale against Salmon Arm at the SOEC. Fourteen awards were handed out recognizing several players in a variety of categories.

Four Vees were multiple award winners, led by Cody DePourcq who won three awards. Captain Brad McClure was named team MVP and took home the Leading Scorer Award. The full list of winners is as follows:

Robert Skinner Courage Award: Cam Amantea (Cantex Okanagan)

Most Improved Player: Jarod Hilderman (Sherwood Sports)

Best Conditioned Athlete: Chris Rygus (Kirk Chamberlain & Associates)

Academic Achievement Award:  Jarod Hilderman (Skaha Ford)

Humanitarian Award: Cody DePourcq (Structurlam Products)

Unsung Hero: Chris Rygus (Sherwood Signs & Graphics)

Most Inspirational Player: Patrick Sexton (Penticton Towing)

Fan Favourite Award: Cody DePourcq (Elliot Row Men’s & Women’s Wear)

Most Sportsmanlike: Ben Dalpe (Burnco Rock Products)

Leading Scorer: Brad McClure (Game Time Sports)

Vees Most Popular Player: Cody DePourcq (James Palanio / Remax)

Best Defenseman Award: Brett Beauvais (Penticton Alumni Hockey Club)

Rookie of the Year: Jack Ramsey (BC Hockey Hall of Fame)

Playoff MVP: TBA

MVP: Brad McClure (Making Cents Bookkeeping)

The Vees organization would like to thank their fans, sponsors and media partners for supporting them throughout the regular season.

The Vees open the first round of the Fred Page Cup Playoffs Tuesday, March 4th, against the Merritt Centennials at the SOEC; puck drop is 7pm. The Vees and the SOEC are teaming up by offering $2.50 beer & soft drinks and hotdogs are just $3.  The Bell Store will also be giving away cowbells to the first 750 fans at the game.
