Penticton police called to deal with unruly youth

Penticton RCMP dealt with a number of unruly youth who were interfering with a B.C. Ambulance crew's efforts to treat an impaired woman at Okanagan Lake beach near Power Street.

PENTICTON - Police were called to Okanagan Lake beach last week to deal with several intoxicated youth.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth said officers attended Okanagan Lake beach at Lakeshore Drive and Power Street around 11 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29 to assist ambulance personnel, who were being obstructed by a number of unruly young people as a young woman was being treated for alcohol poisoning.

Police arrived to find several youths drinking, urinating in public and threatening police.

One male youth was arrested for public intoxication after he attempted to strike a police officer. The youth was jailed until he had sobered up and was subsequently released on a promise to appear in court.
