Penticton man charged in Abbotsford murder

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team said today Shayne Daniel McGenn of Penticton was charged with second degree murder in the death of an Abbotsford man.

PENTICTON - A Penticton man is facing murder charges in connection with the death of an Abbotsford man.

The homicide investigation team obtained charges of second degree murder against 33-year-old Shayne Daniel McGenn, most recently of Penticton, Integrated Homicide Investigation Team Media Relations Officer Sgt. Stephanie Ashton said today, May 17.

Sarah Margaret Sather, 33, is also charged with second degree murder in connection with the death of a 63-year-old Abbotsford man found deceased in a Centre Street residence in the Lower Mainland city Feb. 23, 2016.

McGenn is scheduled to appear in Abbotsford provincial court Friday, May 20, while Sather is scheduled for an Abbotsford courtroom appearance on Wednesday, May 18.

Police say the victim and suspects knew each other.

Ashton says the scope of the investigation required the assistance of police detachments throughout the Lower Mainland, in Abbotsford and the Okanagan.
