PENTICTON - Man who pulled a knife during a fight in Penticton last week has been charged with assault with a weapon.

Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth says officers were called to the Orchard Avenue area in Penticton at about 1:20 p.m., Oct. 14 to a report of two men fighting over rent one of them owed. He says one of the men was reportedly making stabbing motions with a knife.

Wrigglesworth says the uninjured victim was found on Padmore Avenue, while the knife wielding man was arrested near the Penticton Library.

The men know each other and neither was cooperative with police, he says. The man with the knife was charged with assault with a weapon and released later that day under a promise to appear in court.

It was the second knife assault in as many weeks in the city as RCMP continue to investigate a stabbing in front of the 24/7 convenience store on Main Street on Oct.7.
