OSOYOOS - Information is the best weapon against those who have been stealing from vehicles in underground and other parking areas in Osoyoos.

Osoyoos RCMP detachment need details and descriptions of those digging through secured parked vehicles on Cottonwood Drive, Maple Drive and Jack Pine Lane for the past six weeks. Stolen items range from whatever was in a car to a $10,000 Polaris ATV parked near Poplars Motel.

Sgt. Kevin Schur said there's evidence the thieves are not local and the police need as much information as they can get. A person, arrested in Vernon recently, is alleged to have committed some of the Osoyoos thefts and the police have some footage shot by a security camera.

Schur mentioned a security camera has also been stolen which "was odd."

The RCMP have been issuing news releases for the public to report any suspicious behaviour. Residents can call the police at 250-495-7236 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
