Operation Red Nose celebrates 17 years in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS - With the help of red-vested volunteers driving throughout Kamloops, Operation Red Nose, Provincial Sponsor ICBC and host PacificSport are ready to make roads safer this holiday season. Kamloops is celebrating their 17th campaign of Operation Red Nose. The dates of operation are November 29, 30, December 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27, 28, 31 and the hours of service are from 9:00pm – 3:00am.

In 2012, Operation Red Nose raised $24,635 in client donations, filled over 400 volunteer positions and drove over 20,000 kilometers. All donations go to PacificSport supporting amateur athletes in Kamloops.

Volunteers: the heart and soul of Operation Red Nose

Operation Red Nose relies solely on volunteers who care about their communities and want to help and have a little fun during the holiday season. This year Operation Red Nose hopes to recruit 250 volunteers for this year’s campaign. Volunteer positions include Designated Drivers, Escort Drivers, Navigators, Phone Operators and Dispatchers. Volunteers can team up with their friends, family or coworkers to form a road team of three and help safely drive home clients and their vehicles.

If you are interested in volunteering please contact Katie Klassen at 250-320-0650 or email at kklassen@kamloops.ca. Volunteer application forms are located at the Tournament Capital Centre, RCMP office or Volunteer Kamloops.
