Ontario men identified in fatal collision near Chase

CHASE - A coroner’s report has confirmed the identities of two men killed in a crash between two tractor-trailers Friday morning near Chase.

Mehmed Fazlic, 59, and Slobodian (Bobo) Katic, 43, of Ontario were both killed in a head-on collision around 5:40 a.m. Friday. They were driving together in a semi-truck when they collided with another semi on a two-lane section of Highway 1, just west of Chase.

Fazlic was driving at the time, travelling east, with Katic a passenger in the sleeping compartment of the vehicle. Both men were killed in the crash, while the driver of the other truck survived.

The B.C. Coroners Service and RCMP Traffic Services continue to investigate.
