Nominations open for Kamloops arts awards

KAMLOOPS - The three award categories for the Mayor’s Awards for the Arts have been released and are open for submissions.

The categories are: artist of the year (performing arts), emerging artist (artist, musician, or performer aged 18 to 35), and business in support of the arts.

This is the tenth year the Kamloops Art Gallery, Western Canada Theatre and the Kamloops Symphony have worked together with the City of Kamloops to host the Mayor’s Gala for the Arts.

Nominations can be submitted through the Mayor’s Gala for the Arts website. Submissions must be in by Friday, Sept. 30, at 5 pm.

Last year’s winners include Kelsey Gilker (emerging artist), Accent Inns (business in support of the arts), Amanda Eccleston (craft and design), and Vaughn Warren (craft and design).
