KAMLOOPS - Karl deBruijn, Assistant Superintendent for School District 73, will assume the role of superintendent of schools this summer. The selection was made by the district's Board of Education following a comprehensive consultation process with stakeholders, employees, parents, and community members.
DeBruijn has worked as the district’s assistant superintendent for the past 11 years, overseeing district schools in Kamloops and surrounding rural communities.
"I'm thrilled and very honoured given the position," said deBruijn.
"I'm looking forward to it...of course there's a little apprehension given the change."
Current Superintendent, Dr. Terrence Sullivan, plans to retire at the end of July 2014 with deBruijn effectively assuming the role August 2014.
