New restaurant proposed for Lakeshore Drive

Council will look at a proposal for a new restaurant to be constructed on the Black Sea Motel property on Lakeshore Drive at tonight's council meeting in Penticton, March 21, 2016.

PENTICTON - Plans for a new restaurant on Lakeshore Drive in Penticton come before city council tonight, March 21.

Councillors will be asked to approve a development permit for 988 Lakeshore Drive West.

The proposed site is located at the west end of Lakeshore Drive, currently the location of the Black Sea Motel.

Plans call for a two storey, 1,230 square metre restaurant with an outdoor patio. The building proposed for the site replaces an existing building along the Black Sea Motel’s western property line.

Staff are recommending the project, noting a variance requested is not expected to have an adverse impact on neighbouring properties.

Council will also be looking at the city’s facilities master plan, the solid waste CART program, and the Munson Mountain BMX track proposal following a decision from the Agricultural Land Commission at tonight's meeting.

A public hearing regarding zoning amendments to allow wine in grocery stores takes place prior to tonight’s regular meeting of council.

A public hearing regarding a zoning amendment proposed for 812 Johnson Road to allow up to nine rental vehicles on the property as an accessory use to a convenience store is also on the agenda.
