PENTICTON - The craft distilled liquor market appears to be booming in the South Okanagan.

The regional district board approved a zoning amendment yesterday, Oct. 19, for a craft distillery in the Naramata area following a public hearing, clearing the way for development.

The distillery would be the third in the Naramata area and the sixth on a growing list regionally.

The plans for the development at 1362 Greyback Mountain Rd. include a distillery, warehouse, processing room, tasting tasting room and a sales room in addition to an outdoor patio.

Tumbleweed Distillery opened earlier this year in Osoyoos, while Dubh-Glas Distillery opened in Gallagher Lake north of Oliver in 2015. Maple Leaf Spirits and Legend Distillery operate in the Naramata area with Old Order Distilling Co. operating on Martin Street in Penticton.
