Kelowna RCMP have four Penticton residents in custody after receiving complaints of people trying to cash stolen cheques at a Money Mart.

Mounties arrived at the 106-1110 Harvey Avenue cash store in Kelowna just after 4 p.m. yesterday and stopped the suspects' vehicle as they attempted to leave. The three Penticton men and one Penticton woman were arrested and held in custody.

Const. Kris Clark says it appears two of the men attempted to cash the cheques at about the same time.

The vehicle was searched and multiple charges are expected to be laid against the four including uttering of forged documents, identity theft, possession of stolen property, counterfeiting and possession of a controlled substance.

They appear in Kelowna court today.
