WEST KELOWNA - Council has decided to try a different approach to healthcare that includes a committee of West Kelowna residents to tackle issues in a more open kind of way.
The idea is to invite members of the community to sit on the Advisory Committee on Health Care, promoting active partnerships between the district, Interior Health and residents through open communication. The concept was one of the recommendations in a report prepared last year.
West Kelowna Council is seeking five regular voting members from the West Kelowna community at large, with representation sought for women, youth, seniors and the medical community.
Two non-voting members of the committee will be a representative of Interior Health and a District staff member.??
Interested parties can find a committee application form, Committee Terms of Reference, and the Assessment of Medical Services in West Kelowna: Final Report on the District’s website, www.districtofwestkelowna.ca, under Mayor and Council/Council Committees. Application forms are also available at West Kelowna Municipal Hall, 2760 Cameron Road, West Kelowna.??
The deadline to submit applications to the Committee is 4:30 p.m., Monday, January 20, 2014. Completed applications can be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or delivered to West Kelowna Municipal Hall.
