McClure named BCHL player of the week

PENTICTON –Penticton Vees Captain Brad McClure (93) has been named the Player of the Week in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL), for the week ending December 1st.

McClure led all scorers last week, as he had five goals and eight points in three games. McClure’s big week helped the Vees secure wins over West Kelowna and Chilliwack and four out of a possible six points. Tuesday, McClure picked up a goal, the game-winner in the third period, and an assist in a 3-2 come from behind win over the Warriors. Friday he scored twice and finished with a game-high four points in a 5-4 loss to the Langley Rivermen. The Captain helped the Vees back in the win column on Saturday, scoring twice in a 9-4 romp over the Chiefs.

McClure, 20, leads the Vees with 22 goals and 41 points and is second in the BCHL scoring race, just behind Salmon Arm’s Landon Smith. McClure was recently named the Grant Kings Menswear Vees Player of the Month for November, as he put up 12 goals and 20 points in 11 games. McClure is the second Vee to be named the BCHL Player of the Week, joining teammate Ben Dalpe, who was bestowed the honour in September.

McClure and the Vees are back on the ice Wednesday, December 4th, when they host the Merritt Centennials in their annual Teddy Bear Toss Night; puck drop is 7pm. Tickets are just $5 and beer is just $2.50! Tickets are available at the Valley First box office (at the SOEC) from 10am to 5pm.
