Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,602.88, down 231 points):

Canadian Oil Sands Ltd. (TSX:COS). Oil and gas. Down 81 cents, or 10.36 per cent, to $7.01 on 9.7 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace, rail equipment. Up eight cents, or 2.87 per cent, to $2.87 on 6.3 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Down 18 cents, or 6.98 per cent, to $2.40 on 6.2 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 21 cents, or 3.91 per cent, to $5.16 on 5.6 million shares.

Legacy Oil + Gas Inc. (TSX:LEG). Oil and gas. Down 25 cents, or 14.53 per cent, to $1.47 on 5.3 million shares.

Pinetree Capital Ltd. (TSX:PNP). Brokers and exchanges. Down 1.5 cents, or 20 per cent, to six cents on 5 million shares.

Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX:CVE). Oil and gas. Down $1.73, or 7.01 per cent, to $22.94 on 3.2 million shares. The Calgary-based oilsands giant is bracing for a prolonged stretch of low oil prices, cutting $700 million from its 2015 budget released just a month and a half ago — a budget that was already 15 per cent below 2014 levels.

Sun Life Financial Inc. (TSX:SLF). Insurance. Down 11 cents, or 0.29 per cent, to $38.44 on 1.1 million shares. The company has signed a deal to buy U.S. investment firm Ryan Labs Asset Management. Financial terms of the deal were not available.
