Most actively traded companies on the TSX

TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Monday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,432.38, down 35.88 points):

Romarco Minerals Inc. (TSX:R). Miner. Down one cent, or 2.17 per cent, to 45 cents on 6.4 million shares.

Lake Shore Gold Corp. (TSX:LSG). Miner. Down eight cents, or 10 per cent, to 72 cents on 5.1 million shares.

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Down four cents, or 0.44 per cent, to $9.10 on five million shares.

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Down 59 cents, or 1.61 per cent, to $36.04 on 4.9 million shares.

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Smartphones, wireless technology. Up 88 cents, or 7.62 per cent, to $12.43 on 4.7 million shares.

Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. (TSX:ATD.B). Convenience stores, fuel. Down $2.24, or 4.56 per cent, to $46.84 on 3.8 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

AuRico Gold Inc. (TSX:AUQ). Miner. Down six cents, or 1.64 per cent, to $3.59 on 941,666 shares. The company will receive $20 million cash and a stream of royalty payments from Crocodile Gold Corp. (TSX:CRK) under a revised agreement between the two companies. Their original agreement was established when Crocodile acquired two Australian gold mines from AuRico in 2012.

Maple Leaf Foods (TSX:MFI). Consumer packaged goods. Up 13 cents, or 0.68 per cent, to $19.13 on 160,956 shares. The company said one of the three plants previously identified for closure next year will be shut permanently on Dec. 31 and the other two will close by the end of March. The company's plant on Panet Road in Winnipeg will be the sixth closure under a multi-year reorganization.
