Most actively traded companies on the TSX

Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (15,602.65, down 16.56 points):

Western Forest Products Inc. (TSX:WEF). Forest products. Down 16 cents, or 6.11 per cent, to $2.46 on 4.9 million shares.

Tim Hortons Inc. (TSX:THI). Restaurants. Down $2.29, or 2.58 per cent, to $86.42 on 4.3 million shares.

Talisman Energy Inc. (TSX:TLM). Oil and gas. Down 59 cents, or 5.05 per cent, to $11.10 on 4 million shares.

Ram Power, Corp. (TSX:RPG). Utilities. Unchanged at two cents on 3.7 million shares.

Teranga Gold Corp. (TSX:TGZ). Miner. Up one cent, or 1.20 per cent, to 84 cents on 3.5 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 15 cents, or 1.64 per cent, to $9.01 on 2.9 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Cameco Corp. (TSX:CCO). Miner. Down 77 cents, or 3.51 per cent, to $21.14 on 1.5 million shares. The uranium miner said Wednesday it's preparing to stop work at its McArthur River mine and Key Lake mill operations in northern Saskatchewan due to a labour dispute. It said the company and the roughly 535 unionized workers represented by the United Steelworkers are set to begin a strike-lockout at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 30. Cameco said a labour disruption is not expected to affect its 2014 uranium delivery commitments.

National Bank of Canada (TSX:NA). Bank. Up $1.51, or 3.06 per cent, to $50.91 on 2 million shares. Canada's sixth largest bank, has reported a third-quarter net income of $441 million, up 10 per cent from the same quarter last year as the bank was helped by growth in its wealth management and financial markets services. That's up from $402 million on diluted earnings per share of $1.24, compared with $1.16 year-over-year.
