Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Up one cent, or 0.21 per cent, to $4.85 on 7.8-million shares.

Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Up five cents, or 1.08 per cent, to $4.68 on 6.8-million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up five cents, or 1.71 per cent, to $2.97 on six-million shares.

Iamgold Corp. (TSX:IMG). Miner. Up 11 cents, or 2.58 per cent, to $4.37 on six-million shares.

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Up 33 cents, or 2.34 per cent, to $14.44 on 5.6-million shares.

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE). Oil and gas. Down 19 cents, or 3.27 per cent, to $5.62 on 5.5-million shares.

Thomson Reuters Corp. (TSX:TRI). Media. Down 33 cents, or 0.61 per cent, to $53.81 on 713,292 shares. Thomson Reuters unveiled plans Friday to create 400 jobs in Canada over the next two years by establishing a new technology centre in Toronto, a move the company credited to the region's pool of tech talent. Hiring is set to begin in December, with the potential for up to 1,500 jobs, said Thomson Reuters president and CEO Jim Smith. The centre will focus on "emerging skills" such as cognitive computing, artificial intelligence and data-visualization, he said.
